In the 30th season of the Devine Area Artists’ Series, something new was added to the February 8 concert. A Quilt and Textile Exhibit was featured and enhanced the evening of superb music by Ray Colao and the Band. The walls of the Community Center were adorned with beautiful artistic quilts. There were also embroidery and needle point pieces displayed.
The quilters and artisans were: Dorothy Alaniz, Debbie Bacon, Sissy Clawson, Linda Cole, Roberta Griffin Dossey, Sam Gates (quilt by Donna Gates), Lorraine Haglund, Debbie Hightower, Sonja Koons, Donna Trott, and Linda Wells.
Many women audience members enjoyed trying on the quilted jackets and vests which were on display and for sale.
The Series plans to make the exhibit an annual affair. So in the winter concert, the audience will feel the warmth of being surrounded by music and quilted artwork!
