On July 28, at approximately 1:53 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a fatal crash on State Highway 16 in Atascosa County.
According to DPS, “a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on State Highway 16 near milepost 618. The driver failed to drive in a single lane and drove off the roadway towards the center median and rolled over several times.”
“The driver and occupant were trapped within the vehicle. The driver identified as Brenda Delacruz, age 45, of Poteet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital.”
