The Lytle Pirate Cross Country team placed 4th at Monday’s UIL State Championship Meet in Round Rock. JoseCarlos Hernandez led the charge with a 15th place, All-State performance. Lytle finished behind champion Presidio, runner-up Valley View, and 3rd place Whitesboro and five points ahead of 5th place Eustace.
Due to his top 15 finish, Hernandez made the All-State Cross Country team. Of 124 runners in Class 3A, other Pirate runners to place were Jose Cortez (23rd), Robert Wagner (34th), Gregorio Alcorta (66th), Abel Sanchez (96th), Brandon Obando (109th), and Daniel Mercado (121st). Kyle Mueller did not get to run due to an injury sustained at Regional.
Lady Pirate Eisabel Guerrero placed 49th of 123 competitors with a time of 13:08.34.
