Panthers take down Freshman Horses 4-2

The freshman football Warhorses concluded their scrimmage season with a tough-nosed battle against the Panthers in Navarro last Thursday afternoon. Although Navarro came out on top four touchdowns to two, Coach Bart Oropeza liked what he saw from his young squad.
“The freshmen played hard against Navarro,” stated Oropeza. “We took the offensive side first, but we made a few mental mistakes that kept us out of the end zone on our initial possession. Once we calmed down, we were able to score twice in the second offensive series.”
Stats for the game include Brady Hackebeil scoring two touchdowns with one on a 20-yard run and the other on a 7-yard run. Gus Puente carried three times for 20 yards while Zack Rico and Jared Hernandez also carried the football for positive gains. Chris Ortiz contributed with two receptions for the evening.
“The boys played hard and will continue to improve every week. We had a few penalties that killed some of our drives. Overall, we played hard and we will continue to play hard in future games.”
