The 8th grade A and B teams faced Jourdanton on September 23 and were dealt their first district losses. The A team won their first set 25-21 but the Squaws came back in the second to win 18-25. The third set was a struggle for the Lady Mustangs and they lost 9-15. They now have a 1-1 record.
The 8th Grade B team played hard against the tough Squaws but lost both sets 20-22 and 25-10 giving them a 0-2 record.
The 7th Grade A team lost 12-25 and 15-25 while the 7th Grade B team split the sets at 18-22 and 23-21. The A team’s record is now 2-1 and the B team is 1-0-2.
“Our girls competed against some talented Jourdanton teams,” Coach Jasmine Vasquez said. “All of our teams experienced their first district loss but it was good for our girls to compete at this higher level which showed us exactly what we can work on and prepare for when we see them again in our last game of the season.”
Natalia will play in D’Hanis on October 7, in Dilley on October 14, at home against Lytle on October 21, and then in Jourdanton on October 28.
