For the week ending September 15th … Officers managed 68 calls for service and conducted 63 traffic stops. Those stops resulted in 38 drivers being issued citations and 25 receiving warnings.
Officers made three arrests last week. #1 – A 51-year-old female was cited and released for a class C theft at the H.E.B. Plus. #2 – A 38-year-old male was arrested after he was stopped for speeding. He provided false identifying information because he had a warrant. So, he not only was arrested on the theft warrant out of Bexar Co. …. He picked up a false ID charge. #3 – Officers arrested a 45-year-old female for public intoxication; she was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
Property Crimes: Last week I provided an update on vehicle burglaries that were reported on Sept. 9th. Those were the ones that our officers were able to solve. Other than that we only had two theft reports at the H.E.B. One resulted in the cite and release and the other occurred when a male tried to exit the store with $228 worth of groceries. He fled on foot when approached by H.E.B. staff.
The city’s first-ever Night Homecoming Parade is rapidly approaching. It is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21st. It looks like we will start at 9 PM. If you have been to one of our day parades, you know it can get congested. So, be extra careful as it will be dark! We are suggesting you wear bright-colored clothing and pay special attention to the kiddos. We are asking that you stay 5 feet behind the white line on Main St. This will give us the safety buffer we need. Please don’t set up your chairs by the white lines. Another reason for this is that I will be on my bicycle, and I need that extra area so when I fall, I don’t land on anyone.
What else is on the agenda? National Night Out will be on Tuesday, Oct. 1st. At the Lytle Community Center. The event will run from 6 PM – 8 PM. We will be serving hotdogs, drinks, snacks, and snow cones. Special thanks to H.E.B., who will be providing drinks, and LGI Homes (Rosewood Estates) who will be sponsoring the hotdogs. With a big outfit like that, we can get the hotdogs that have real beef and pork in them, not just the cheap ones with a trace amount of real beef and pork. A big thank you to Rauch Coleman Homes (Saddle Ridge Estates) who will sponsor the snow cones. Thanks also goes out to the Lytle VFW and their Auxiliary. They volunteered to cook and serve the hotdogs!
If your business or organization wants to set up a table at the event feel free to send me an email and I will get you on the list.
It’s not too early to make plans for attending our annual Christmas Hayride. This super cool event will be held on the 2nd Saturday of December (the 14th). If you are new to town, here is how it goes. We load people onto trailers and drive around town looking at Christmas lights. The two goals are #1 – See beautiful Christmas lights, and #2 – Don’t fall off. There are some more details, but this information alone should pique your interest.
