Natalia Cross Country is officially underway and they are already setting a new standard this year. “We had 25 athletes come out on the first day of two a days, 10 Lady Mustangs and 15 Mustangs,” stated Coach Lane.
The Mustangs will have plenty of competition this year to grab a spot on JV/Varsity. Noah Gilkey and the Senior boys do a great job of pushing each other in practice. Last year, they placed 11th at Regionals and are hungry to improve again this season.
The Lady Mustangs will have quite a few Freshmen fighting for a Varsity spot this year. Returning Regional alternate Meg Martinez is working hard to compete at the Regional level and with the incoming Freshmen, they definitely have that chance as a team.
“I am very excited to be starting my second year in Natalia with my Assistant Coach, Elvia Loza. I have some great athletes and I know they will find their true potential with hard work and consistency. Go Mustangs!!” said Coach Lane.
