Natalia XC runs in Devine meet

Natalia High School Cross Country teams competed in the Devine Invitational last Wednesday at Devine Golf Club. Noah Gilkey paced the Mustangs placing second overall behind Hondo’s Anthony Sandoval. Meg Martinez was the lone Lady Mustang varsity competitor with a 28th place finish. Marinez ran her two miles in 16:20.
Gilkey and Sandoval were practically neck and neck most of the race before Sandoval pulled away late. Gilkey ran an impressive 17:38 while Sandoval turned in a 17:27.
Devin Chapa placed in the top 10 for the Mustangs as well with a 9th place 19:50 effort. Daniel Tristan was 14th at 20:28.
Joseph Gonzalez (28th-22:22) and David Rodriguez (36th-23:24) also competed for the fourth place Mustangs.
JV
Abbi Thompson and Jasmine Riso competed for the JV Lady Mustangs. Thompson came in 21st with a 22:26 while teammate Riso placed 24th at 23:21.
Kevin Ray Gutierrez and Josue Degollado ran for the JV Mustangs. Gutierrez put in a top 10 effort finishing in the 10th spot with a 24:00 run. Degollado was 21st running his three-miles in 28:12.
