Natalia Softball opens season with win over Cuero

The Natalia Lady Mustangs overcame an early deficit to pick up their season opening victory last Tuesday, February 23rd vs. the Cuero Lady Gobblers. Natalia used timely hits and great base running en route to the 4-1 victory over Cuero.
The Lady Gobblers struck first in their opening at bat, as they used a Natalia error and a triple to score their lone run of the game.
That lead stood, until the bottom of the 3rd inning. Natalia used an Abi Woodson single, an error put into play by Trista Vera, a double by Mena Figueroa, a Gabbi Munoz HBP along with a wild pitch and a passed ball to score in three big runs.
Natalia finished off Cuero in the 5th as Figueroa scored thanks to being hit by a pitch along with two stolen bases and a wild pitch.
Overall, it was a bit of a sloppy game by both defenses as Natalia surrendered four defensive errors compared to three by Cuero. Woodson picked up the win, as she allowed three hits, walked two and struck out an impressive 13 batters in the game.
