Natalia Softball begins scrimmage play

The Natalia Lady Mustangs returned to the diamond two weeks ago to begin their 2022 season. Natalia welcomed back eight players from their 2021 season and started off the year with 16 total players with near 25 expected once basketball concludes.
“We are working to work together and to be prepared to play out of position, new positions and doing what is best for the team this season, Natallia Head Coach Tara Cortinas said. Cortinas a Natalia Alum, enters her 3rd season at the helm of the program.
This season, Natallia welcomes back the following girls: Senior Pitcher Abigayle Woodson, Senior SS Tatyana Alvarado, Sr. RF Kendall Tanner, Sr. LF Reagan Juarez, Sr. OF Meg Martinez, Jr. 2B Marina Billalobos, SO CF Skylyene Gallegos and SO 1B Isabel Laque.
The first scrimmage was on press day Tuesday, as the girls in blue welcomed the youthful Pleasanton Lady Eagles to town as they were led by a brand-new head coach. Other scrimmages set to take place include a February 4th road scrimmage at Kerrville, A 1st ever Alumni game was planned on February 8th, but it did not make it. Natalia will instead host Boerne Champion and a final scrimmage on February 12th at Southside.
This season, non-district games will include Pearsall, Charlotte and Hondo. Tournaments this season will include a challenging one at Medina Valley and Jourdanton along with the 2nd home tournament in a row for the girls in blue.
Of course, district play has not changed, as Natalia will battle Jourdanton, Poth, Lytle, Karnes City, Dilley, Cotulla and Poteet.
