Natalia ISD adopts lower tax rate

The Natalia ISD Board of Trustees adopted a property tax rate of $1.3332 per $100 of valuation for the 2020-2021 school year, effectively a 6.19 percent decrease in the tax rate, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 11.
The district’s property tax rate as a whole combines the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) rate, for the maintenance and operating costs of the district, and the Interest and Sinking (I&S) rate, for the purpose of payment of interest and principal on district debts.
The M&O rate was set at $1.0037, effectively a 6.05 percent drop from last year, while the I&S rate is $0.3295, a decrease of 6.60 percent.
Overall, the school property taxes on a home valued at $100,000 will be $87.90 lower than in 2019-2020.
House Bill 3, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2019, required school districts to compress their property tax rate from what was adopted for the 2018-2019 school year.
