The Mustangs were at home last Thursday as they welcomed the Mustangs from Nixon-Smiley. Paul Zapata got the scoring going for Natalia as he was able to find the end zone after a 7 yard QB scramble. He would follow up with the 2 point conversion to give Natalia an 8-0 lead with 6:29 in the 1st quarter. Following it up, Simon Garcia was able to scamper 13 yards for another Natalia touchdown with 3:20 remaining in the 1st quarter. Paul Zapata would tack on the 2 point conversion to give Natalia a 16-0 lead.
Both teams played defense well until 2:11 in the 2nd quarter when Paul Zapata was able to find the end zone for his second TD of the day. After running in the 2 point conversion Natalia would take a 24-0 lead into halftime.
Both offenses would struggle to get things going in the 2nd half but Natalia would find the end zone once again as Kaleb Velarde scored his first touchdown of the season on an 11 yard run. The 2 point conversion failed but Natalia held on to a 30-0 lead as that would be the final score of the game.
The defense was led by Steven Saldana and Tyler Taylor as they both had a big QB sack to end drives.
The Mustangs will wrap up their season this Thursday in Natalia as they will host Jourdanton for the 2nd time this season.
