The Mustangs will face the Lytle Pirates in their 57th Legacy Bowl in Lytle this coming Friday night. Kick off will be at 7:30 pm.
This battle between Natalia and Lytle began in 1933. Last year Natalia was able to beat Lytle 34-21. Out of the 56 games the Pirates have won 27, while the Mustangs have won 26, with three ties.
“The legacy bowl is always an exciting game. The atmosphere is always very electric and both communities look forward to this game,” stated Coach Graves. He further stated, “I know our kids will be ready to put their hard work and preparation to the test again this year. Lytle is well coached by Coach Gallegos and he will have his kids prepared to play. We are looking for an exciting game.”
“Our preparation will not change. Every week, the message our kids will get will be to worry about what we are doing. I don’t care who we are playing and what the score says during the game, we MUST get better. We must “Change Our Best” and “Trust The Process” each time we take a rep. The outcome of this game has no bearing on what our ultimate goal is and we must prepare and perform like we are playing for the district championship.
Coach Graves encourages anyone in the area to come on out to Lytle, wear your royal blue, and get loud!
