MSGT Glen Carl Hurd

MSGT Glen Carl Hurd, (US Air Force, retired), of Macdona, passed away with his family by his side, on July 29, 2018 in Castroville at the age of 89 years. He was born June 20, 1929 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, one of eleven children born to Walter J. Hurd and Sally Virginia Hicks Hurd.
In 1949, Glen graduated from Wagoner High School in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was an All-Star High School Football Quarterback and attended Arkansas University on a football scholarship. He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a load master and air evacuation specialist.
On October 13, 1954, Glen married Lucia Hernandez Lopez in San Antonio. They were blessed with over sixty-three years of marriage, two sons, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Fred Hurd, Thadius Hurd, Charles Hurd, Dortha Creech, Geraldine Muehlberg, J.D. Hurd, Preston Hurd and Gladys Hurd.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lucy Hurd of Macdona, sons, Charles (Shelly) Hurd of Castroville and Don (Irma) Hurd of San Antonio; grandchildren, Armand Hurd, Ezra Hurd and Kiley (Ben) Jean; great-granddaughter, Olivia Jean; sisters, Virginia and Lorene as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 10 am at Mission Burial Park South, 1700 S.E. Military Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214. Memorials may be made in Glen’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
