Melanie Eve Keller DeCock

Melanie Eve Keller DeCock, age 73, passed away Sunday evening January 7, 2018 at her home in Castroville, with her loving family at her side. She was born December 29, 1944 in Hondo to Reynold Richard Keller and Eva Alvina Tschirhart Keller, who have preceded her in death.
In 1963, she graduated from St. Louis High, followed by a year of school at Draughans Business College. Melanie worked at Frost Bank and then at the Castroville Hospital. After the birth of her two daughters, she began her most cherished career of wife and mother. As her daughters grew older and began attending school, she began working at UT Health Science Center as a buyer for the physical plant, retiring in 1999 as senior buyer after 30 years. On May 9, 1964, she married Arthur DeCock at St. Louis Catholic Church. Melanie is a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Art DeCock of Castroville; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Geoffrey Groff, Brenda and Scott Stein all of Castroville; grandchildren, Jonathon Groff, Hannah Groff, Matthew Stein, Nathaniel Stein and Jessica Stein; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Lee and Margaret Keller of Lytle and Burnell and Vicki Keller of Castroville; sister and brother-in-law, Roselyn and Mark Kempf of Castroville; aunts, Eddie Dell Biediger of La Coste and Meta Keller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held at Koenig Park following interment. Memorials may be made in Melanie’s memory to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
