Medina Senior Center relocates due to storm damage

The Medina Senior Center, Inc., located at 808 Harper in Hondo was damaged during the storm on Wednesday, April 28. We lost part of both roofs on our office building and congregate center. We are grateful that no one was injured during this storm. Due to the damage to our office equipment and facility we have relocated our office to 1101 19th Street, Suite 2 in Hondo. Our phone number (830) 741-6160 and fax line (830) 426-2958 are working and remain the same. Thankfully our Devine Congregate Center located at 317 St Hwy 132 N, Devine, did not receive any damage.
The Medina Senior Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization that serves the seniors of Medina County. We receive our funding through AACOG (Alamo Area Council of Governments), HHS (Health and Human Services), insurance reimbursement, private pay, grants, memorials and donations. Our office has continued with our services throughout the COVID pandemic and now this storm damage without closing our doors due to our dedicated staff and volunteers. We are still in the process of moving and request your patience with us during this process. If you know of any senior who can benefit from the Meals on Wheels service, please call our office at (830) 741-6160.
In 2020, 46,573 meals were delivered throughout Medina County. We currently have 195 home delivered clients on our roster and 75 clients are being served here in the city of Hondo. On average, over 4,000 meals are delivered by volunteers. We are in need of volunteers to help deliver these meals. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our office. Our volunteers allow us to meet our motto “So no senior goes hungry”.
