Medina County sadly reports first COVID death, Local case count continues to climb Wednesday

The community is heartbroken to learn that a Medina County resident who fell ill to COVID-19 has passed away. The pandemic has caused over 10,000 deaths in the US already, and now this horrible virus has taken one of our own.

No other information has been released at this time, and we at The Devine News offer our sincerest condolences to the family who lost a loved one during this time of crisis.

On the same day, Wednesday, April 8th, Medina County officials have reported that our total case count in residents has climbed to 9 confirmed cases.

The 8th case reported today is a resident from the Lytle area 78052, and the 9th case is from Hondo area 78861.

The continue to wait for many more test results to come in and warned in a press conference Monday that there is “no doubt there are more positive results coming.”

I do not know this person’s name. I do not know their age or which of our local communities they lived in. But I cried as I wrote this, and the rest of Medina County cries with us. This is a sad day. This is REAL.
