Maria Facundo Castillo, of Atascosa, passed away on January 9, 2020 in San Antonio at the age of 92 years. She was born April 7, 1927 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Guillermo and Maria de Jesus Limon Facundo.
On April 27, 1946, Maria married Francisco Torres Castillo at Mission San José Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. Maria and Francisco were married for almost fifty-nine years when Francisco passed away on February 10, 2005 at the age of 84 years.
Survivors include her son, Frank Castillo, Jr. (Julie) of San Antonio; daughters, Lidia F. Castillo of La Coste, Frances C. De La Cruz (Raul) of Dallas, Rose Mary Castillo of La Coste, Gertrude C. Borrego (Steve) of San Antonio and Dalia C. Martinez of La Coste; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francisco T. Castillo; son, Dr. Antonio F. Castillo and daughter-in-law, Consuelo Y. Castillo; brothers, Carlos Facundo, Concepcion Facundo and Faustino Facundo.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020 starting at 5:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste, Texas.
Memorials may be made in Maria’s memory to the Epilepsy Foundation or the American Heart Association.
