Lytle Pirate Flute Quartet advances to STATE!

From left to right are winning Flute Quarter students Emelia Garcia, Cambri Davila, Natalie Williams, and Emma Polonsky.

Just before the winter weather began, eight of our Pirate Band members competed in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 13th.
Lytle Band Director Mark Fender stated, “Due to COVID concerns, each district is “hosting” their own contest this year rather than traveling to a central location. Although that adjustment gave the contest a very different feel this year, our students had worked hard and were very well prepared. All seven of our events received 1st Division ratings, and our flute quartet met the additional criteria required to advance to the State Solo & Ensemble Contest in May.”
Participating and receiving the top rating were:
Hector Anaya (alto saxophone solo)
Diamond Smith-Walker (clarinet solo)
Sarah Ytuarte (alto saxophone solo)
Skye Granato (two solos, both 1st Divisions – one on tenor saxophone and one on soprano saxophone)
Natalie Williams (flute solo)
And our State qualifying flute quartet, is composed of Cambri Davila, Emelia Garcia, Emma Polomsky, and Natalie Williams.
