Lum hired as Natalia HS Assistant Principal

The Natalia ISD Board hired Doug Lum on March 19th with a 4-0 vote to be the new assistant principal at the Natalia High School. He will replace former assistant principle Ana Lopez who accepted a job at South San ISD. Lum is hoping to begin on Monday, April 2nd.
“First off I just want to say how excited I am to be returning to Natalia. I can’t wait to get started! I am a proud father and husband. my wife Monica and I have been married almost 23 years. We have two children. Shane is 21 and a Senior at Texas Tech University. Abby is 19 and a Freshman at Texas State University. Monica is an educator as well. I went to High School in Poteet. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from UTSA and a Masters Degree from Lamar University,” stated Mr. Lum.
Mr. Lum began his career in education at Natalia High School in 2002 as an English teacher and assistant football/basketball coach. In 2005 he was promoted to Head Boys Basketball Coach but in 2007 he left Natalia and moved to McMullen County ISD to be the Head Boys Basketball Coach. In 2009 he again moved to Jourdanton ISD as the Head Girls Basketball Coach and held that position for seven years before taking on an administrative role as the Junior High Assistant Principal in 2016.
“I am ready to be a Mustang again! I look forward to helping the students and staff in any way I can. It is going to feel great to wear blue again! #Mustangprideneverdies!” said Mr. Lum.
Superintendent Dr Cone stated, “Natalia is excited to “Welcome Back” Doug Lum to Natalia ISD. Doug is committed and passionate about working alongside Dr. Jane Harris to make a significant difference in the lives of our students at Natalia ISD. We look forward to great things from Doug in the upcoming years.”
