Lelton Junior Edge, was a caring husband, loving father and compassionate “grandpa.” He went to his heavenly home on February 8, 2022. He was 87 years young.
He was born to Porter and Eleanor Edge, on July 31, 1934, in Cullman County, Alabama. Soon after graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. After retiring from the military, he enjoyed another career as a Civil Servant and retired after 20 years.
During his first military assignment he met and married Bettie D. Jones and together they raised three boys. They have been blessed with nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lelton enjoyed working outdoors, camping, fishing, tinkering in his shop, sitting on the porch, helping people in the community and fellowshipping with others. He enjoyed drinking Coca Cola and had a healthy love of sweets. He could “gum” his favorite meal, chicken fried steak, like nobody’s business.
He was a man of faith with strong convictions. He would say to each of us “do not mourn my passing but rather celebrate it. For I have gone on to be with my heavenly Father and Savior. And I’ll see you when you get here.”
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at 10:00 am, First Baptist Church, in Lytle, Texas.
Funeral Service will, also, be Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Lytle.
Interment will be at Lytle Community Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
