Lasaro Rodriguez, age 88, passed peacefully in his sleep to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 with his family by his side. Lasaro was born in Devine, TX to Matiana Campa Rodriguez and Ramon Rodriguez on December 17, 1930. He married Ofilia Vera on July 18, 1952. They moved to Lovington, NM where they adopted their only child, Lisa Raquel. They settled in Belvidere, Illinois where he raised a family, had a strong faith and a generous heart. He loved having family gatherings where he was known for his mouth-watering brisket. He enjoyed music, woodworking, golf, and working in his yard. He moved back to Devine, TX after the loss of his wife. They were married for 54 years. He had the sweetest sense of humor and the unique ability to make everyone he knew feel special.
Lasaro is preceded in death by his wife, Ofilia Vera Rodriguez, his parents, Matiana and Ramon Rodriguez, siblings Herlinda Rodriguez, Fidel Rodriguez, Elvira Aguiñaga and Sara Ornelas.
Lasaro is survived by his loving daughter Lisa Raquel Rodriguez, his siblings Enrique Rodriguez of Andrews, TX, Consuelo Alvarado of Devine, TX., Estella Sanchez of Andrews, TX and Reymundo Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many, many friends.
His funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and he was laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Devine, TX.
