Berdine Mary Griggs Belcher passed away on March 19, 2019 in Castroville at the age of 101 years. She was born December 26, 1917 on the family farm in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Allie Edwin and Iva Iowa Lyon Shields.
She married Wendell Rodney Griggs on November 16, 1936. They were married for 25 years and were blessed with four children.
Berdine and Joseph Belcher were married in Castroville in 1984 and spent 20 years together before his death in 2003.
Berdine lived in Castroville for 75 years and could still tell stories about all the wonderful people she loved in the community.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gaye and Donald Belcher, Mary Griggs, Ray and Sharon Griggs, and Nathan and Cheryl Griggs, all of Castroville. Her grandchildren are Wayne (Pauline) Rodgers, Brenda (Michael) Kempf, Tammy (James) King, Debbie (Jimmy) Gouard, Monte Bippert, Bekki (Dennis) Hans, Troy (Christi) Griggs, Derek (Deesa) Griggs, Misti (Mike) Kinnett, Cade (Hillary) Griggs and step-children, Becky (Phil) Stephens and Robert (Alana) Belcher. She was blessed with 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Berdine was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Wendell Griggs and Joseph Belcher; son-in-law, Nelson Bippert; five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral Service was Friday, March 22, 2019, at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, with visitation starting at 9:00 am. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
