“We found ourselves down at halftime 23-22. It has been a long time since we were in this situation. So at the half our staff knew this talk would need to be a little different. The halftime adjustments were to settle down, regroup and stop forcing things. We were getting beat on the offensive boards giving them too many second chances. We came out in the 3rd quarter and outscored Karnes City 21-12. The 4th went to Lytle by outscoring them 25-21 and helping seal the deal was shooting 70% from the line at the end of the game. Lytle also knocked down 8 three pointers in the game. This was a great team win and the girls showed the true competitors they are. Definitely a proud Coach and AD of this group,” said Coach Wilson

In an energy-charged gym, the Lady Pirates took on the powerhouse of Poth on Friday. Ending the first quarter 17-17, the second quarter went to Lytle to end the half 31-22.
“However in the third and fourth the score bounced back and forth. We forced some outside shots that turned into some points for Poth in transition. With 11 seconds left in the game I used my last time. It is 54-53 and I told my 3 guards to play full court man to man defense and make it hard for them to get past half court so they have to rush a last second shot. I had confidence in our defense because that is why we are winning games. Poth had to rush down and did not get a good look at the basket and the buzzer sounds and we beat Poth for the second time 54-53. The Lady Pirates made Poth turn the ball over 43 times with our press and had 23 steals. This game was definitely a playoff game which will help us down the round in the post season. This takes the girls to 8-0 in district and gave us breathing room with the 1st place spot we are also 15-5 for the season. Now we pray for us to continue to stay healthy and injury free,” reported Coach Wilson.
