Lady Mustangs battle in Taft Tournament

Over the weekend, the Lady Mustangs competed in the Taft Tournament and came back home 1-2 after battling against very tough teams. Coach Tamara Bednorz and her varsity played Bishop and Taft on Thursday and Pettus on Saturday.
In their first match up against Bishop, the Lady Mustangs were slow to wake up in the first set and fought hard in the second but it was too late to come back. They lost both sets 11-25 and 23-25. Aces: Angelina Zapata 4. Kills: Angelica Padilla 9, Trista Vera 4. Assists: Bailey Boucher 4, Bryanna Perez 3. Digs: Zapata 14, Perez 12, Boucher 12.
Taft was another tough game for Natalia with scores of 21-25 and 14-25, the Lady Mustangs could not get the ball to work for them. Kills: Marian Joseph 4. Aces: Perez 2. Digs: Zapata 7, Manka 5.
In their final game against Pettus, the Lady Mustangs turned their game around and won 25-23 and 25-18. Both games were hard fought and well-earned with players stepping up and being aggressive offensively and defensively. Kills: A. Padilla 2. Aces: Christina Fulton 2. Digs: Boucher 5, Fulton 3.
The Lady Mustangs are 4-11 and will head to Medina Valley this Saturday, Carrizo Springs on the road September 6th and the Pearsall at home September 13th. District starts September 17th against Dilley.
