The Natalia Lady Mustangs will be led again this season by Coach Samantha Crowley and Assistant Elvia Loza. They competed in the Bi- District round of play last year against Johnson City.
“We are so proud of our girls and sad to see the season end, but they came a long way and always did what was asked of them,” said Coach Crowley as the season ended last year.
They will pick up right where they left off and add to the success this season with two-a-day practices already underway!
The Lady Mustangs have been reporting for two-a-day volleyball practices at 8:00 a.m. since Tuesday, July 31 like most teams in the area. They practice in session 1 from 8:30 to 10:30 and then return from 12:30 to 2:30 for session 2 with players being released at 3:00 p.m. They will follow this two-a-day schedule this week and next (Aug 1-3 and Aug 7, 9-10), except for on scrimmage or game days.
The first scrimmages will take place in Poteet on Friday, August 4 staring at 1:50, followed by games at 2:40 and 5:10. All play at the same time Freshmen, JV, and Varsity.
This Saturday the Varsity only will travel to D’Hanis for a scrimmage starting at 10 and 11 a.m.
Next week, Hondo will come to town on Tuesday, August 8 for the season opener at home with the games starting at 5:00 p.m. JV and 6:00 p.m. Varsity. Then on Friday, Aug. 10 the Varsity will participate in the Cole Tournament.
They will also play in the Devine Tourney on August 17-20, pool play style, with 16 teams.
