Lady Mustang season ends with tough loss

It was a great season for the Lady Mustangs under Head Coach Steven Spangler as they ended Monday night in a district playoff game against Jourdanton. This was the game to see that would earn them 4th in the tough district. The Squaws came out on top at 55-53 in an aggressive nail biter. Natalia ended their season 8-7 in district and 10-14 overall.
Before they faced Jourdanton, the Lady Mustangs put it all on the line when they played Cotulla on February 5th. They had to win this game for a shot at the playoffs and win they did at 47-41.

“The win versus Cotulla and a Jourdanton victory over Poth set up a seed in game for the 4th spot in Devine Monday night. The Lady Mustangs started off a little rocky, but fought hard all night staying in striking distance. Unfortunately, Natalia came up just short in the end 53-55. I’m extremely proud of the fight my girls played with. No matter how much they got down, they never gave up. They dug down and fought their way back into the ball game. They worked hard all season to have this opportunity. Beating Jourdanton and Poth in the second half of district gave them some confidence and opened their eyes to how good they were. The goal for this year was to improve every time we stepped on the court, and I can say they did that. I can’t say enough of how proud I am of this team. It was a great first season! We’ll take some time off, and start to prepare for next year in the off season,” said Coach Spangler.
