Kristian Warren Sallee-Kononchuk and his fiancée, Tamara “Tammy” Alyssa Currier were involved in a fatal automobile accident that took both of their lives in the early afternoon of August 22, 2017 in northern Medina County. Kristian called Hondo his home, and had just celebrated his 22nd birthday, having been born August 2, 1995 at Lackland Air Force Base. In 2013, Kristian graduated from Medina Valley High School. While attending Medina Valley, he was active in Ag, FFA and Skills USA. Kristian graduated from Tulsa Welding School in 2014 and was the owner and operator of State of the Arch Welding Company. He loved to hunt, fish and go to the gun range to shoot his many weapons. Kristian was a skilled craftsman, making and building things all the time.
Kristian was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Batot, and great-grandmother, Suzie George.
Survivors include his parents, Kimberly Bales of Hondo, Joseph and Kayla Batot of Lytle, Kenneth Sallee II of Devine; Godparents, Spring Kononchuk and Dave Woolley of Upland, California; siblings, Cameron Batot, Corbin Bales, Carson Bales, all of Hondo, Kenneth W. Sallee III of Devine, Tina Murphree of Pleasanton; grandparents, Debra and Paul Kononchuk of Castroville, Patricia Batot of Lytle, “Grammy” Tammie Kempf of Devine, Robert “Bobby” Mueller of Natalia, Monica and Dave Drapen of Lytle, Kathie Witter of Lytle; great-grandparents, Lillie and Jimmie Sloniger of Blackwell.
Visitation for Kristian and Tammy was held together on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.Their Funeral Service was Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment followed at George Cemetery Bexar County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Military Family Association (www.militaryfamily.org), an organization devoted to helping soldiers and their families with PTSD and other needs.
