JV2 Warhorse baseball sitting at 2-2

The Devine JV2 team went 1-1 during spring break as they went down 13-6 March 9th versus Alamo Heights then rebounded to pick up a 13-4 win against La Vernia March 10th. The Horses are now 2-2 on the season.
vs Alamo Heights
Devine got out to an early 4-1 lead in this one but could not hold on as the Mules scored 12 runs in their final three at bats, including a six-run fifth inning that ended the game.
A bright spot for the Horses was Elijah Contreras going 3-3 and scoring two runs, while Henry Ramirez went 2-3. Shayne Scarbrough, Anthony Saldivar, Jacob Rodriguez, and Jonathon Esquibel each collected a hit.
vs La Vernia
Devine clawed the Bears for at least three runs in each of the four innings played, including four runs in the bottom of the third as they shot down any La Vernia attempt to keep the game competitive in the Warhorses 13-4 victory.
The Horses scored their 13 runs on only seven hits with several more of their runs coming at the benefit of drawing 10 base on balls. Patience at the plate on close pitches, plus timely hitting contributed to the 9-run differential.
Summer Leggitt pitched all four innings, giving up five hits and four earned runs. Leggitt also struck out six and walked only one batter.
Anthony Saldivar and Alfredo Ramirez each got two hits, while Ayden Leal, Elijah Contreras, and Matthew Gomez each got a hit as well.
Contreras smacked three RBI, Ramriez had two, and Saldivar, Leal, Gomez, Carson Suhr, and Edward Perez each had one.
