JV Mustangs dominate Randolph

For a second straight week, the Natalia Junior Varsity Mustang Football team appeared to be unstoppable. The boys in blue used a combination of explosive offensive plays and hardnosed defensive tactics to overwhelm the Randolph Ro-Hawks at Mustang Stadium.
This coming Thursday, the boys in blue will have a challenge as they travel to Walter Joyce Stadium as they battle the Lytle Pirates at 5:30 p.m.
“We had our season opener and we protected our home well, despite a little rain,” Coach Jeff Terry said.
Offensively, the Stangs found their groove for a second straight week as they shut-out the Ro-Hawks 32-0. Natalia accomplished this courtesy of touchdowns by the following Stangs: Jake Navarro 1 yard passing TD to Coltin Richardson, two rushing TDs by Ryan Rizo and one rushing TD by Nate Banda. Natalia also scored two touchdowns on fumble recovery/returns by Aaron Colchado and Nate Banda.
“Defensively, we did what we needed to for a second straight shut-out,” Terry said.
Upcoming Sub-Varsity Games
As mentioned, the JV Stangs are on the road on Thursday. The Natalia Jr. High 7th and 8th Grade Mustangs will open their season at home this Thursday with the 7th grade set for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff with the 8th grade to follow.
