JV Arabians beat Marion, battle La Vernia

Last week the JV Arabians fell to La Vernia but beat Marion and showed great progress against the tough teams. Under Coach Leigh Anne McIver, the JV Arabians are ready to play Hondo this Friday and then host the Devine Freshman/JV tournament.
Against La Vernia on Tuesday the JV lost 13-25. “The girls did a great job on serve receive and keeping the rally going. We started the night struggling offensively but picked it up in the second set. We just have to be able to finish the game when it gets close to the end,” said Coach McIver.
Karsyn Brown 4 kills, 3 digs. Neenah Guerrero 5 digs, 1 ace. Kaylee Romano 3 digs, 1 ace. Kate Featherly 1 assist. Makayla Rivera 2 kills. Denise Contreras 2 digs. Kelsey Dishman 1 kill, 10 digs, 6 assists, 2 aces. Maddie Dubose 1 ace.
Marion quickly fell at 25-16, 25-9 despite a few mistakes. “The girls did a great job tonight of staying focused during the game. A lot of free balls were sent over and the girls did a great job of finishing points. When Marion did hit the ball, we did a good job of getting in position and dodging the ball,” replied Coach McIver.
Brown 4 digs, 1 ace, 7 kills. Guerrero 8 digs, 1 assist, 1 ace. Romano 2 digs, 1 ace. Featherly 6 assists, 3 aces. Rivera 2 kills. Dishman 3 digs, 11 assists, 1 kill, 1 block. Avery Cruz 2 kills. Dubose 2 aces, 1 kill, 1 block. Denise Contreras 5 kills.
