JV/9th Warhorses gain valuable experience vs Bandera

The Freshman and JV Warhorses got their feet wet last Friday in Bandera against the Bulldogs in each teams’ first live scrimmage of the season. With limited opportunities, each team made the most of their time on the field while the coaches got a glimpse of the Warhorses Friday night future.
Freshman recap
“Our freshmen came out and executed very well despite only having 10 offensive plays and 10 defensive plays,” stated Head Coach Paul Gomez. “They scored once and did not allow Bandera’s second team JV to score. I wish we could have had more work but with the low number of players that Bandera had it was the best that we could do. They will definitely get some good work this Thursday at Warhorse Stadium since Navarro does have a freshman team. They will scrimmage from 5pm-6pm. It will be a good test for them. Excited to watch these guys play and keep getting better!”
JV recap
Gomez continued saying the “JV also did some good things Friday versus Bandera. There were some mental mistakes offensively but we played hard and still moved the ball down the field. I expect some good things from this group once we iron out the kinks.
Defensively, we were very solid. We played hard and had lots of hats to the ball. This group will also be tested this Thursday as we all know Navarro has a great tradition and their ‘Slot-T’ offense requires discipline and intensity on the defensive side to control them.
I can’t wait to see our improvement from a good week of practice and I’m looking forward to seeing this group continue to improve.”
