Johnny J. Ethridge of Devine passed away suddenly due to complications from pneumonia. He was 64, formerly from Victoria Texas. He moved to Medina County in 1982. After living in Natalia for about 20 years, he and his wife moved to Devine.
He was involved in the construction industry, building many homes in the surrounding area. His interests included music, barbequing and playing pool. He claimed to be a grumpy man but everyone loved him and will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathrine Ethridge, son James Garrett (Brandy), Johnny R. Ethridge (Angelica), Jason U. Ethridge, Eric Smith (Juliet), John Chaddock (Trish) 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Siblings include Allen R. Ethridge, Nita Ethridge, Debbie Ethridge, Jackie Ethridge and spouses and much extended family. Goddaughters are Courtney Develin and Kaesyn Mann.
A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a love fund has been set up at Security Bank to help pay for final expenses. Any excess of funds will be donated back to the community through the hospice thrift shop, food pantry, Devine News and American Cancer Society.
