John L. “Jake” Campsey, Sr

John L. “Jake” Campsey, Sr. of Huntington Station, NY (formerly of Devine, Texas) passed away on January 28, 2024 at the age of 80.
He was the beloved husband of Theresa, loving dad of John (Deborah) Campsey, Jr., Stephanie Campsey and Tara (Stephen) Guth, and cherished “Poppy” of Carol Ann, Johnny, Dylan, Addison and Peyton.


Jake or JL as was lovingly known by his family and friends was the second child of 12 children born to Arthur and Mary Campsey of Devine, TX.
He grew up working hard with his fellow siblings on the family farm in Devine. This hard work ethic carried on throughout his life. While he loved his years in Devine and was a die-hard Warhorse Class of 1961, he moved to New York and built a very successful business and lived for the next 60 years. His most prized accomplishments was his wife of 55 years, proud father and Poppy. He will forever be “Best Poppy”.
Surviving siblings include brothers Ronald Lee Campsey and wife Shana of East Quague, NY, Thomas Wayne Campsey and wife Karen of San Antonio, TX, Richard Dale Campsey of Devine, TX, Robert James Campsey of Devine, TX, Arthur Lee Campsey and wife Jeanene Campsey of San Antonio, TX, and William Dean Campsey of Devine, TX; sisters Clara Marie Carroll and husband Charles of Buda, TX, and Mary Susan Bourcier and husband Tim of Devine, TX; sister-in-law Sherry Campsey of Devine, TX, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Campsey of Devine, TX, sister Becky Campsey Favor of Calallen, TX, brother Donald Erwin “Butch” Campsey of Devine, brother Danny Campsey of Austin, TX, sister-in-laws Carol Brown Campsey and Debi Crouch Campsey both of Devine, TX, brother-in-law Jim Favor of Calallen, TX and nephews John and Robert Campsey of Devine, TX and niece Christie Campsey Sollock of Highlands, TX. Mother and father-in-law Andrew and Ann Iobino. Sister and brother-in-law Gino & Gloria Carrozza.
A special thanks to all family and friends in the communities of Huntington Station, NY; Devine and other areas for their kindness and heartfelt condolences, food, flowers and gifts in remembrance of Jake. They thank all who have shared what his life meant to them. It is overwhelming, and brings great joy and healing, to see the outpouring of love for Jake and how he touched the lives of so many in his time here on earth.
