Jimmy J. Prue, of Moore, TX passed away at the age of 90 on July 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Buddy Prue and his sisters Mary Carolyn Tooke and Nancy Prue Foster. He is survived by his nephew Clay M. Tooke and wife Sheryl along with various grand nephews, niece and cousins. His presence will be missed by his longtime “son” and business partner Mark Balencia, the extended Balencia families and his many lifetime friends.
Jimmy was born to Floyd Benjamin Prue and Candis Josephine “Trudie” Cross Prue in San Antonio. He grew up in Bandera and lived in the Frio County area since 1963.
Jimmy was very proud of his Osage Indian heritage and supported various Indian schools. He attended Texas A&I and St. Mary’s Universities, and he also served in the U.S. Navy in the 1950s. He maintained a successful business through oil and cattle ranching. Jimmy served many years as a Director of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. He expressed a love for fine art and enjoyed his travels throughout the world. He had major involvement with his church and community.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 2:00 – 9:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm Rosary at Hurley Funeral, 303 W. College Avenue, Devine. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Church, 100 W. 2nd Street, Moore, TX with interment immediately following at the Moore Catholic Cemetery. [As a COVID health precaution, a reception will not be held.]
Memorials, if you wish, can be made to the St. Augustine Church in Moore, TX; St Augustine Cemetery or the Church Hall maintenance fund.
