Janet Sue Bowen, 69, of Lytle, TX was born on March 17, 1952 in Crosby, TX and passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her father Ocie Odell Simon, mother Edith Hejna, sister Sharon Peavey, husband Herschell Bowen, and son Hershel Eugene Bowen. She is survived by her son Billy Bowen and wife Michelle of Castroville, TX; daughter Melissa Maldonado and husband Rick of Lytle, TX; sister Brenda Gill and husband Mike of Abilene, TX; sister Liz Williams of Abilene, TX; brother Billy Glen Simon and wife Karen of Monahans, TX; brother Gene Simon of Omaha, NE; brother David Simon and wife Roberta of Wills Point, TX; granddaughters Shelby and husband Colton, Madelyn and husband Zachary, Abigail, Allison, and Annabelle; grandsons Kevin and wife Tanya, Gregory, Jack, Andrew, and Lee; great-grandchildren Charlie, Ralphie, Athena, Carson, and Easton; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Janet was known for her fiery and sassy personality. As Shakespeare put it, “though she be but little she is fierce.” More than anything, Janet was known for her unconditional love for her family and friends. Her hugs were legendary. She loved giving big kisses on the cheek. When you went over to her house, you knew that you were going to get some good food, a huge hug, and some great conversation. Janet loved nothing more than to sit on the porch and talk with her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Jesus Church of Castroville on Saturday, December 18 at 2pm. All who knew Janet loved her. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
