James Dwight “Jimmy D” Smith was born June 10, 1954 in Hondo, TX and grew up in Natalia, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert “Sleepy” Clifton Smith and Patricia “Patsy” Ann Smith, brothers Steven Douglas and Patrick Wayne Smith and mother of his second child Debra Anne Cook.
He is survived by his daughter Courtney Yost and son-in-law Brian Yost, daughter Angela Upham and son-in-law David Lee Upham, grandchildren Jessley Tabitha Upham, Codey Taylor Yost, Dalton James Yost and David Jameslee Upham, sisters Cynthia Louise Bradley, Angela Michele Koehler and husband James Koehler, brother Samuel Eric Smith and wife Trudy Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Smith worked for Wente construction and was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. Smith was incredibly loved and he will be greatly missed. Smith passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on March 1, 2021.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 3-6pm at Freedom Hill Church, 3950 Eisenhauer Road, San Antonio, TX 78218. A small graveside burial to follow the next day at Devine Cemetery at 1:30.
