Inflation may slam brakes on Devine water improvement project

Inflation has driven costs skyward to the point that Devine’s $9.9 million water distribution improvement project is now strapped for funds to complete anything beyond the first of three proposed phases, city engineer Raul Garcia Jr. reported to the city council.
“The amount of money budgeted back in 2016-2017 is just not going to get you very far post-COVID,” Garcia said.
