Local boy competes on NCS World Series 9u championship.
Hunter Alston, of Devine, played in the National Championship Sports World Series in Florida this past weekend with his team Alamo City WolfPack. Hunter also competed in the skills challenge against 48 kids from Texas, Alabama, and Florida, winning the Home Run Derby with 4 total homeruns.

Hunter’s baseball team the Alamo City Wolfpack 8u consist of kids from Hondo, Devine and South San Antonio. These kids consist of 8/9year olds. (Recent 9yr olds). They have been playing together for a couple of years now and usually play all across Texas. This season their coach decided it was time to challenge them outside of the state and made it to the National Championship Sports World Series in Destin Florida where they competed for three days. Falling into the losers bracket with two losses in pool play the boys bounced back in Bracket play on Saturday playing three games and winning all three games. This guaranteed them a spot in the championship game on Sunday at 11am. The boys played hard and won the championship game 11-7.
“We are incredibly proud of these boys and all they have accomplished this season,” said Aunt Brittney Obaya.
Hunter’s proud parents are Ruben and Brianne Alston of Devine and grandparents Albert and Anna Obaya of Devine.
