The Public Hearing for the City’s proposed 2021-2022 property tax rate of $0.5298 per $100 of valuation is set for Tuesday, September 14 at 6:00 pm at the George S. Woods Community Center.
Though the proposed tax rate is the same as the current 2020-2021 rate, increased property valuations results in higher taxes anyway.
In 2020, the average taxable value of a homestead in the City was $109,021, leading to an average City tax bill of $577.59.
Both of those figures look to increase by 10.64 percent, with the average taxable value of a City homestead rising to $120,618, and taxes rising to $639.03.
Those increases will see the City’s total property tax revenue jump $85,704 to $1,129,819.
