Gloria June Leavitt Bendele, of Dunlay, passed away on Sept. 15, 2018 in Lytle, at the age of 62 years. She was born Sept.3, 1956 in Fort Worth, one of four children born to George Herbert Leavitt, III and Opal Mills Leavitt.
Gloria graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Draughn Business School. On June 2, 1979, Gloria married Michael “Mike” L. Bendele in San Antonio. For many years, while she was raising her two sons, Gloria worked as a teacher’s aide for Medina Valley ISD at the Castroville elementary school campus. Gloria and Mike opened an equipment rental business in Castroville, Castroville Rental. Gloria utilized her business management skills there as the office manager.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stephen Leavitt and grandparents, Richard and Maggie Mills and George, Jr. and Alice Leavitt.
Survivors include her husband, Michael L. “Mike” Bendele, Sr. of Dunlay; sons, Michael L. Bendele, Jr. of Dunlay and Stephen R. Bendele of San Antonio; granddaughter, Taitem Bendele; sisters, Barbara (Jim) Henry and Cindy (Joe) Castillo, all of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2018 starting at 1:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. Services will conclude at the Funeral Home.
