Geyer, Espinosa XC Runners of the Week

Two incoming freshman Cross Country runners cemented their varsity team status by not-so-simply following and exceeding Head Coach Khera Vay’s summer workout plan. Kelli Geyer and Marcus Espinosa went above and beyond not only their summer goals but two-a-day expectations as well to claim a share of this week’s Cross Country Runners of the Week.
Marcus was “surprised” when he heard his name called out by Vay for the recognition. “I put in a lot of miles this summer, a little over 190 miles altogether,” Marcus shyly stated. “It was an honor to be selected as Runner of the Week with Kelli, another freshman. I want to run really well in Bandera on Wednesday to prove I earned this honor.”
Kelli was “happy” when she first got the word. “Since the end of my 8th grade year, all I have thought about is not only running Cross Country, but also about being good in it. I logged almost 130 miles this summer preparing for this season. It is rewarding to see the time that I had put in helped with this recognition.”
Congratulations Marcus and Kelli on Co-Runner of the Week!
