Gerald Scott “Gerry” Keller

Gerald Scott “Gerry” Keller, of Castroville, passed away on July 16, 2018 in San Antonio, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fanny and Stanley Keller, Sr. and his brother, Stanley “Pud” Keller, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Keller; his children, Richard “Richie” Keller and Stefanie Keller-Perkins (Mark); grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Schulte; sister, Carolyn Bourdeaux (Larry); sister-in-law, Beverly Keller; brothers-in-law, Fred Sharon (Gina) and Paul Sharon (Patsy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Castroville on August 4, 1944, he began the start to a great life ahead of him. He attended and graduated from St. Louis Catholic School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the 1968 Pueblo Crisis. He met the love of his life, Bonnie, at Sammy’s Restaurant. He would have celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage in November. He was a proud family-oriented man and put them above everything else. He worked at Kelly Air Force Base for 36 years, retiring from there in the year 2000. He was an avid fisherman, and after he retired he took up the sport of golf. He worked as a Marshall at the golf course and was there any time he could make it. He was also known for his self-taught gardening and carpentry skills. He could fix whatever you needed and could build whatever your heart could imagine. He was kind, thoughtful, and fair in all aspects of his life. His example was large, his words were few. He was a prayerful man of quiet integrity and to know him was to love him. He was honest and generous, and believed Heaven was the place he most wanted to be. His name was Gerry.
Visitation was Thursday, July 19, 2018 starting at 5 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm. Mass of the Resurrection was Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment followed at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery Garden Mausoleum with military honors.
