George Edward Lessing, of Hondo, passed away on July 24, 2017 in San Antonio at the age of 66 years. He was born October 28, 1950 in San Antonio, one of six children born to Francis “Frank” Lessing and Teresa Lagleder Lessing.
In 1969, George graduated from Southwest High School. He served two years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. George worked at Southwest Research Institute as a carpenter for over thirty years. On March 2, 1974, George married Catherine “Cathy” Marie Beck in Rockne, Texas.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Teresa Lessing and two brothers, Stephen Lessing and Christopher Lessing.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cathy Lessing of Hondo; sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Jenny Lessing of Hondo, Ryan and Tennille Lessing of Hondo, Nathan and Jessica Lessing of La Coste; grandchildren, Emma Lessing, Luke Lessing, Molly Lessing, John Lessing, Gage Lessing and Crew Lessing; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Billy Cooper of Atascosa; brothers and sister-in-law, Vincent Lessing of Afton, Wyoming, Guy and Missy Lessing of Macdona; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicky and Owen Barnes of Utopia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a future date. Memorials may be made in George’s memory to the charity of your choice.
