It is now midway through the district volleyball season and the Freshman Arabians add two more wins to their record. They beat Crystal City on October 2nd and Pearsall on October 5th. The freshmen have an overall record of 11-5 and a district record of 3-1.
Teamwork and communication were key for the Freshman Arabians win against Crystal City. “They stayed focused and played together well as a team which resulted in a quick win. I am proud of their improvements this season,” said Coach Kimberly Lane.
The Arabians won their game in two quick sets at 25-10 and 25-10. Yessika Garza and Darian Alvarez each had 2 kills and Bri Torres and Kaydi Yeats each had 1. Cece Martinez led with 10 aces, Brooklyn Crossland and Ana Pompa each with 2, Dylan Reyna with 1.
The Freshman Arabians played just as well against Pearsall last Friday night when they beat them 25-11 and 25-16. “Set 1 we played well as a team and with great intensity. In set 2, the Arabians relaxed a little and had to regain focus to come out with a win,” said Coach Lane.
Alvarez had 3 kills and 1 block, while Pompa and Yessika Garza with 2 kills each, and Aleyna Gerlach, Torres, and Yeats each had 1. Crossland had 3 aces, Reyna, Martinez, and Lacey Shook with 2 each and Pompa with 1.
