The Freshman Arabian volleyball team has been on a torrid streak since the beginning of the season and last week was no exception as Devine defeated Pearsall and Floresville to improve to 15-1 before their game last night against Uvalde that kicked off the second round of District 29-4A play.

With a win last night, Devine improved its overall record to 16-1 and 6-0 in 29-4A.

Devine spiked the Lady Mavs 25-8, 25-12 to walk away with the two-set victory.
The girls did a great job taking care of business in this game,” said Coach Kara Stacy. “It is hard to stay focused and ready to go in games like these but the girls handled it well.”
Booke DuBose led Devine with 6 aces and 4 kills and Calleigh Schneider only had one less with 5 aces. Kyrie DuBose led the team with 7 kills and Caroline Suhr added 2 of her own.
Kyrie Monreal assisted 5 times.
vs Floresville
What appeared on the Arabian schedule to be the toughest game left did not really pan out to be much of a challenge for this talented squad. Devine won in straight sets 25-13, 25-10 to cruise to victory.
“We did a much better job of coming out ready to go in the first set,” Stacy stated. “Taking care of things like we are capable led to a solid win in set one. We carried that same momentum and aggressive serving in the 2nd set allowed for a quick win over the Jaguars.”
Monreal and Schneider led the way with 4 and 3 aces respectively. Monreal also contributed 7 assists and Brooke DuBose added 5. Kyrie DuBose was credited with 6 kills while Rylie Wells had 2.
“We are going into the second round of district play 6-0 and we are one step closer to the team goal of a district championship! I am excited to see what the girls do in the next round,” Stacy said in closing.
