Frank Allen Hooker, age 88 of Devine, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born in Poteet, TX on February 3rd,1933 to Hayden & Minnie Hooker.
He is survived by his daughters, Jana Whitley and Peggy Susan Hooker; brother, Bobby Hooker; grandchildren, Chianti Harkins, Amanda Curiel, Anthony “Bubba” Bollman, Ashli Gentry, Ross Gentry, Allen Gentry, Hayden Hooker, Harley Hooker, James Gentry, and Joshua Gentry; great-grandchildren, Joey Sequin, Trace Sequin, Brooklin Joseph, Celeta Harkins, Lucas Harkins, Tiffany Gregory, Avery Bollman, Vivian Gregory, Liam Gentry, Maverick Bollman, Logan Gentry, and Allen Gentry.
He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Dora Mae Hooker; son, Frank Allen Hooker Jr; brother, James Earl Hooker; and sisters Esta Mae Jackson, Bulah Hooker, and Peggy Dabbs.
Frank was a beloved husband, Papa, brother, Paw Paw, and great-grandpa. He worked for the City of Devine for 33 years, starting as Devine’s first night watchman, and working his way up to the Utilities Supervisor. He was a friend of everyone, and he always had a smile and wave for everybody. He was always ready to help anyone. Frank was the most humble, sweet, and selfless man. He was always happy with what he had, and he worked hard his entire life; from picking cotton as a child, to any job he could find to take care of his family. Frank may not have had fancy cars, or money, but he was the richest man I knew.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 9am in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel. A funeral service will begin at 11am at the funeral home with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
