Fatality as man crashes onto Devine Airport property

On December 16, 2018 at approximately 12:20 AM, officers of the Devine Police Department were dispatched to the Devine Municipal Airport

for a report of a one-vehicle accident where the vehicle hit a tree and the driver was slouched over.
Upon arrival, it was learned that the male was driving south on FM 2200, went off the roadway and went through the airport’s fence and came to a stop against a tree. The air bags in the 2012 Ford F-350 pickup were not deployed. The male was not conscious or breathing and no pulse was found. Allegiance EMS arrived. The truck is owned by Target Oilfield Services Texas LLC.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 57-year-old Darrin W. Anderson of Odessa, Texas.
DPS troopers assisted, along with Devine Volunteer Fire Department.
Justice of the Peace Klaus pronounced Anderson deceased. An autopsy was ordered and the deceased was transported to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office by Hurley Funeral Home.
On behalf of the Devine Police Department, the Odessa Police Department notified next of kin.
