After all four District 26-3A squads lost their Bi-District Playoff battles the All-District Accolades were released. Poth swept all three top accolades, as a total of eight Natalia Mustangs landed on 1st or 2nd team lists.
“It is always good to see our kids get recognized by other coaches,” Natalia Head Coach Philip Martinez said. “We knew that this year would be a challenge with new teams in our district. We had some of our players step up this year and I am looking forward to next season.”
Poth’s Preslee Moy won the District MVP honor, as Luke Cantu was named the Offensive MVP and RJ Cruz the Defensive MVP.
When it came to 1st Team All-District honors, the following Mustangs made the cut: Senior Pitcher Rey Garza, Sophomore 2nd Baseman Jeramiah Castro, Senior Short-Stop Nathan Vasquez, Senior Outfielder Manuel Saldana and Sophomore DH Anton Felker.
Natalia Mustang Senior Pitcher Gabe Figueroa, Senior 3rd baseman Javier Hernandez and Junior Outfielder Dustin Richardson were all named to 2nd Team All-District Honors.
“We will be very young next year, but I feel our kids are up for the challenge,” Martinez said. “Once again, I am just very proud of the young men listed above for their hard work and effort this season.”
