Dr. Randy Ewing, died in his home, surrounded by his family on October, 22 2017. He was 66 years old.
Randy is survived by his children, Katherine Ewing of El Campo, TX, Molly Ewing of Durham, NC, Candice Slater of San Antonio, and Jacqueline Reed of San Antonio; his three grandchildren Logan Henslee of San Antonio, Ashton Henslee of El Campo, TX, and Sami Ewturk of Durham, NC. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ewing of San Antonio. Randy was proceeded in death by his son, Robert Ewing.
Randy was born on September 10, 1951 in Lansing, Michigan. After an adventurous youth, Randy graduated from the University of Michigan and celebrated the birth of his first daughter. Later they moved to Houston where Randy continued to teach and added Molly to his family. Randy began his career in school administration later in El Campo and met his second wife Betty. Randy and his family soon moved to Lytle where he began his 19 years of service first as principle at Lytle Elementary. Later he would serve at Lytle as assistant superintendent until moving on to Runge ISD to be superintendent. After being a superintendent, he retired for a few years but he could not stay away from Lytle long, and soon return to act as Director of Public Relations.
Humble and generous Randy was always helping others with anything that needed doing from fixing cars to jump starting their careers. He was a hard working and thoughtful individual and always active in the Lytle community. His kindness and support was felt by his family, friends, and coworkers.
Randy passed away peacefully at home in a sleep. You will be remembered as a excellent husband, father, grandfather, and colleague.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Hurley Funeral Home 14822 Main Street, Lytle, Texas 78052 (830) 709-0698.
